Paladin Preferred Capital  is in the process of appointing 50 carefully chosen members of the business, real estate and community outreach sectors to participate in our exclusive Advisory Alliance. The Members of this Alliance are highly acclaimed professionals in their chosen field as well as community spirited citizens who share the ideals of the Paladin definition that describes an idealistic person who seeks better treatment of others.

 

The Advisory Alliance will participate in regular high level communications and integrated discussion initiated by executives of Paladin regarding the company's business plan, trending strategies, developing and on-going relationships, projects, market trends and overall company performance. The Advisory Alliance Members will meet quarterly in a social venue and will be invited to special events sponsored by the company.  The Members may use the communications and event venues to develop deeper social and business relationships with other Members of the group. They may also develop revenue streams through the company's vast referral platform.

RICHARD D. SMITH

Advisory Alliance

With over thirty years experience in Nevada and the Southwest commercial real estate markets, Richard D. (Rick) Smith is President and Chief Executive Officer of RDS Associates, LLC, and its affiliated companies. Together, RDS is a group of commercial real estate firms specializing in investment, development, marketing and property and asset management services.

 

During the late 1990s, Smith led commercial development and transactional activities as Vice President of American Nevada Corp., developer of the 8400-acre Green Valley master-planned community in Henderson, Nevada. Smiths prior real estate experience includes senior management positions in acquisition and development for Emkay Development Co. in Newport Beach, California, developers of office, industrial and mixed-use business parks in the West. Smith also served as President of Emkay Financial Services, a licensed broker/dealer specializing in real estate securities. In the late 1980s, Smith was Sr. Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for IDM Development, builders of commercial properties, including the World Trade Center in Long Beach, California. Prior to relocating to Southern Nevada in 1995, Smith owned and operated RDS Associates, Inc. in Southern California, a commercial real estate company specializing in acquisition, development and marketing.

 

Smith has served as speaker, panelist and commentator in numerous real estate venues and is frequently quoted in local and regional business and real estate publications. As Keynote Speaker at North Las Vegas State of the City Conference, Smith defined and helped launch the Citys international award-winning Cheyenne Technology Corridor, wherein RDS/Insight developed that Citys first mixed-use business park, the 40-acre CheyenneWest Corporate Center. In 2006, Smith was guest speaker for the Michigan Bar Associations 2006 Real Estate Conference.Rick Smiths trade and civic associations are numerous. He is former Chairman and Founder of the National Mixed-Use Development Forum for the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP) and is a past President of the Southern Nevada Chapter of NAIOP. Named by In Business Las Vegas as among the Whos Who in Southern Nevada real estate, Smith also serves as Chair-Elect on the Executive Committee of the UNLV Lied School of Real Estate Studies and is a member of the UNLV Academic Foundation. Smith also is Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Henderson Chamber of Commerce, 2011-2013. He was the first candidate ever to complete both, the Henderson Chambers Leadership Henderson program, and the Las Vegas Chambers Leadership Las Vegas program.​

 

Smith received his B.A. from the University of Texas and M.B.A. from Pepperdine University. He and his wife Geri, a marriage and family therapist, and daughters Ellie and Amy live in the Green Valley area of Henderson, Nevada. They are active in the St. Thomas More Catholic Community, in St. Viator Catholic Church and St. Viator School, as well as in numerous charities throughout Southern Nevada.

Prior to pursuing Real Estate, from 1995-2001, Jake co-founded and managed a consulting firm in computer networking, infrastructure and online communications that served clients such as Microsoft, America Online, DreamWorks, and Paramount as well as advising Venture Capital funds on the market feasibility of future technologies. He began his real estate career in 2002 with Insignia/ESG (now CB Richard Ellis).

 

Jake earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA).

PERRY M. DEALY

Mr. Dealy has over 37 years of real estate experience in the public and private development arena. With hands-on experience in all aspects of real estate development, including being a licensed architect, general contractor, and fiduciary representative, Mr. Dealy brings a broad set of skills that have been crucial to his success in strategic planning, acquisitions and development over the years.

 

Since founding Dealy Development, Inc. in 1992, Mr. Dealy has been primarily responsible for project pre-development master planning, entitlement phase, and overall project implementation and completion. Recently completed projects include the expansion of the Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego, the development of The Grand Del Mar Resort, Clubhouse and Villas, the entitlements and pre-development for the Columbia Tower Hotel Downtown San Diego and the due diligence/leasehold acquisition for the Phase III San Diego Convention Center Expansion. In addition, he continues the pre-development of Manchester Pacific Gateway on San Diegos downtown waterfront and the Chula Vista waterfront master plan including a hotel conference center.

 

Dealy Development, Inc. has held development contracts for the following major projects: San Diego Convention Center Phase II Expansion, San Diego International Airport Master Plan, Chula Vista Bayfront Master Plan, Rancho Bernardo Corporate Center, Centerside Office Complex in Mission Valley, Wells Fargo Plaza and the Sé Hotel in downtown San Diego, Century Centre Office Complex in Irvine, California, and the Qualcomm Stadium Expansion in Mission Valley.

 

Mr. Dealy is active in the community with membership in Lambda Alpha International, the Downtown San Diego Partnership Executive Committee, Urban Land Institute and ALIS. Mr. Dealy resides in Point Loma and is married with one son. He enjoys golf, hiking, travel, good friends & wine.

 

ROBERT SONNENBLICK

Mr. Robert Sonnenblick, Principal of Sonnenblick Development, LLC, is a graduate of the Wharton School of Finance of the University of Pennsylvania with more than 30 years of experience in various aspects of real estate and real estate finance. From 1981 to 1991 Mr. Sonnenblick was the driving force and power behind Sonnenblick-Goldman Corporation of California.

 

Mr. Sonnenblick completed over $2.1 Billion of commercial real estate transactions on the West Coast and as a result is regarded as one of the West Coast's leaders in the field of commercial real estate. Among the more notable projects for which Mr. Sonnenblick personally structured the financing for are The Beaudry Center, Los Angeles, California ($197 million), the Ritz Carlton Hotel, Pasadena, California ($97 million), One Waterfront Plaza, Honolulu, Hawaii ($100 million), the Los Angeles World Trade Center, Los Angeles, California ($55 million),and the Strohs Beer Inc corporate HQ in Detroit, Michigan ($66 Million).In 1991 Mr. Sonnenblick was appointed Director of Development for the New Jersey and L.A. MetroMalls, with the responsibility for oversight and direction of the design, financing and leasing programs for two proposed $250 million enclosed regional malls totalling 1.2 million square feet each. Mr. Sonnenblick personally oversaw more than 1 million square feet of leases in connection with this position as well as arranging the necessary debt and equity financing. The New Jersey project opened to one of the strongest starts in the history of the United States mall industry.

 

In addition, Mr. Sonnenblick was an original development partner of the Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel. This 360-room, $90 million hotel was recently sold for $125 million. Prior to forming Sonnenblick Development, LLC, Mr. Sonnenblick was the senior partner in a Los Angeles-based real estate development firm (Sonnenblick Del Rio Development) which specialized in public-private partnerships, specifically the development of four major government-leased office buildings throughout the Los Angeles basin. During this tenure, Mr. Sonnenblick successfully developed nearly 1 million square feet of government leased buildings, occupied by such tenants as U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department, Los Angeles County Department of Public Social Services and Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services.

 

Mr. Sonnenblick is a frequent speaker at various real estate-related functions, such as those hosted by Deloitte Touche, ICSC, Value Retail News, Crittenden, USC, UCLA Real Estate Program, IMN Real Estate Conferences, Opal Financial Group, iGlobal Conferences, and the Institute for International Research. Mr. Sonnenblick is a member of the Advisory Board of the Golf Development Institute, a member of the Board of Real Estate Council of the Century City Chamber of Commerce and is a published author on subjects ranging from architecture to general real estate market conditions. In addition to Mr. Sonnenblick's expertise in development, finance, joint ventures and equity structuring, Mr. Sonnenblick has also been certified as an expert in the area of real estate bankruptcy/foreclosure. Mr. Sonnenblick is a qualified expert witness in the area of Commercial Real Estate Finance and Interest Rates for the United States Federal Court System in numerous California jurisdictions.

REZA NAMVAR

Reza is Senior Loan Director for Banc of California, San Diego market. He has more than 18 years of financial and industry experience. He served as a President of a boutique brokerage, and raised institutional and private capital for existing commercial and new development projects. He successfully managed a large Commercial & Residential Mortgage Operations team for many years and has reviewed and personally arranged capital in the form of Equity, Debt, Mezz, and Bridge for, Multi Family Apartments, Retail, Industrial, Hospitality, Senior, and other real estate and development projects. Namvar graduated from University of California San Diego UCSD in San Diego, CA.

JOSEPH PENNER

Advisory Alliance

Mr. Penner is the founder of Hill Street Realty a full service real estate company formed in 2001. Between 2006 and 2009 Mr. Penner was also the Fund Manager for the Chesapeake family of funds at LMREI, formerly a subsidiary of Legg Mason. Together, HSR and the Chesapeake funds have acquired over $425 Million of real estate equity and debt investments. The majority have been value add transactions where Mr. Penner' s team managed the direct execution of the business plan.

 

Both Chesapeake and HSR have been investors in a wide variety of real estate assets including multi-family, office, retail, hotels, and industrial. Value-add projects have included physical renovations, re-developments, entitlements and permitting, financial re-engineering and management efficiencies.

 

Prior to Hill Street Realty, Mr. Penner was a Director at The Capital Corporation of America ("CCA"), formerly known as Nomura Asset Capital Corporation. In 1994, Mr. Penner was recruited to open the branch office for CCA in Los Angeles and completed over $1.2 Billion of real estate transactions in the first two years. In 1997, Mr. Penner moved to Paris and developed the European expansion plan and business model for CCAs real estate lending business. This included managing the analysis and bid process for the acquisition of a large bank being auctioned by the French government.

 

Mr. Penner has been in the real estate business since 1990, working with various real estate opportunity and investment funds such as Starwood Capital, The Signature Group and JRK Investments. During that time, Mr. Penner has performed numerous functions in the real estate business including management and leasing, acquisitions and dispositions, analysis and computer modeling, and fundraising, financing and structuring. In the early1990s Mr. Penner was focused on acquiring property and loans from the RTC and FDIC. From 1984 to1990, Mr. Penner was a vice president at Citicorp in the securities group of the international private bank.

MARILYN ROBOTTI

Marilyn's is a professional designer and real estate agent. Her career began as a Sales Engineer/Purchasing Agent for Don Cummings Engineering, where she interpreted blue prints for large commercial buildings including schools, hospitals, etc. She then was recruited as Project Coordinator & Designer for Rutledge Properties' luxury homes division. Marilyn's passion for designing blossomed into her own consulting & remodeling business, which she managed as a sole proprietor for 7 years, developing strong relationships with vendors & contractors from all segments of the design and building industries.

 

Marilyn has managed projects for a diverse group of clients on a wide variety of levels, ranging from commercial venues such as doctor offices, business centers & entertainment offices as well as interfacing directly with developments in the hospitality industry in San Diego, Las Vegas, & Hawaii. During the past 2 years, Marilyn has successfully repositioned, listed and sold over 20 residential properties. She is the primary shareholder in Capital & Real Estate Exchange, Inc. a Los Angeles brokerage firm.

 

Philosophy: Marilyn's business philosophy is simple - interpret her clients' wants & needs and deliver the best results possible. Developing a strong connection with her clients & understanding their objectives on a personal and professional level is an important part of her process.

JESSICA BESSELING

Jessica Besseling is Sr. Director of Business Development at GoCoin, Inc. an online community for Bitcoin exchange. Prior to this assignment, she was marketing director for Cap Linked a company assisting enterprises in raising capital through private deal rooms to share confidential information and documents with prospective investors, and to track which leads have accessed the information. Jessica was Director of Business Development at DDC.com, a web-based technology-driven company that monetizes and develops internet domain names.

 

In addition to managing 3rd party publisher relationships, she worked with upstream partners to expand DDCs monetization platform. As a native of Luxembourg, her prior experience included a successful bid to establish a presence within the domain community throughout Europe while working for Oversee.net. She holds a B.A in International Business.

ALY SPENCER

Aly Spencer has been fortunate enough to live and run successful businesses on four continents. After living in Auckland, Sydney, London and Tokyo, she found Beverly Hills 25 years ago and has loved living there ever since.

 

After a successful modeling career, Aly worked as Media Manager for News Corp eventually leaving the high profile position to pursue her passion for interior design. Aly's extensive body of work in the design industry ranges from designing custom furniture to full interior and exterior home makeovers for some of LA's most notable celebrities.

 

Ten years ago Aly was approached by a large New Zealand investment company to represent them in high end commercial and residential property acquisitions. Aly found that being a commercial and residential real estate professional was her true calling. Another project involved leasing and redesigning a large nightclub in L.A with Sean Penn. Aly's celebrity clients include Charlie Sheen, Robert De Niro, Pierce Brosnan Cheryl Crow, John Travolta and many more.

 

With such an intriguing background it is hardly surprising that Aly has created an all inclusive real estate and design business. KIMBERLY MOORE

Baroness Kimberly Moore is an active entrepreneur from New York City and Goodwill Ambassador to the United States, best known for using her creative energy in raising funds and awareness for a variety of industries around the world.

 

She has been successful in bringing together highly influential people from around the world in private gatherings to collaborate on business opportunities on a global scale and founded The Echelon Club (a membership-based lifestyle organization in Los Angeles) in 2005 with the intention of incorporating a more charitable and gratifying component to each event. She won the Humanitarian Award at the 2008 Hollywood Music Awards for securing music programs in public schools and in April of 2009, Moore was recognized by Americorp for her volunteer work in the community. She was recently awarded an Order of Royal Crown a golden medal prepared by the International Royal Courts for her outstanding achievements in philanthropy and winner of the Mogul Award at the 2010 Eworld Music Awards held at LA Live.

 

Ms. Moore was also chosen as Peace Ambassador in 2010 for Music 4 Peace/World Gandhi Tour promoting world peace through the universal language of music along with other influential renowned leaders such as Dalai Llama, Arun Gandhi and others, founded by Tobias Huber.

 

In October 2009, Baroness Kimberly Moore was appointed by President Malam Bacai Sanha of the Republic of Guinea Bissau, West Africa and named the first Goodwill Ambassador to the United States of America. Moore was granted full power of attorney to execute activities on behalf of the Presidential Office and interests of the state and afforded all relevant signatory powers to carry out duties sanctioned by the office. Moore will work closely with the First Lady playing a major role on the countrys development while combating various social problems in the country.

BRAD BLACK

Brad Black is Managing Director at Holiday Fenoglio in Century City, one of the neation's largest mortgage bankers. He has over 21 years of capital markets, real estate finance and development experience. Prior to HFF , Brad was a Managing Partner of Investments for Pacific Star Capital,  responsible for identifying and pursuing real estate opportunities in debt and loan portfolios, as well as other value added investments.

 

From 2000 to 2007 Brad was a Director in the Real Estate Capital Markets group at Wachovia Securities where he was involved in originating both fixed and floating rate debt, mezzanine and joint venture equity investments on commercial property. Brad was involved in the successful closing of transactions totaling over $5 billion and specialized in the more complicated, highly structured transactions.

 

From 1993 to 2000, Brad worked at George Smith Partners, Inc. a boutique real estate investment banking firm based in Los Angeles, California, where Brad assisted clients in the analysis of the most beneficial capital structure for the financing of commercial real estate assets.

 

Prior to that, Brad was a trader and advisor for Capital Management, AG a foreign exchange trading and advisory firm headquartered in Zug, Switzerland. Brad was responsible for developing and managing short to medium term positions in the spot currency market for the Maverick Investment Fund, an offshore based fund with managed assets over $40 million.

 

Mr. Black graduated with a MBA with a concentration in real estate finance from Columbia University and also holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin.

JAKE LITTLE

During the course of his career at GE Capital and other institutions Jake Little has sourced and structured over $1 billion in transactions. Mr. Little graduated with a bachelor's degree in business from Pepperdine University in Malibu, and holds a master's degree in real estate development from the University of Southern California (USC).

 

Mr. Little has authored numerous articles on finance and commercial real estate for publications such as American Banker, National Real Estate Investor, and California Real Estate Journal. He is the founder of the largest real estate group on LinkedIn with over 100,000 members, as well as L.A. Dealmakers (www.ladealmakers.com) and L.A. Bankers (www.labankers.com).

JAMES GELINAS

Over the past twenty five years Mr. Gelinas has worked as an Art Director and Conceptual Designer in a variety of fields throughout the US, Europe and Asia.

 

From conception to fruition, his creative abilities and diverse experience has played an essential part in providing many companies with unique and successful brands. In addition, each project is approached with the goal of reducing manufacturing costs and increasing revenues beyond expectations.

ANDREW TAVAKOLI

Principal Specialist in asset repositioning & note acquisitions. Beginning in 1987, Andrew Tavakoli started investing, renovating, managing, and leasing apartment buildings through syndication. Over the past 25 years, Mr. Tavakoli has invested and transacted over $350 million of primarily retail and apartment projects nationwide through the umbrella of Tavaco Properties, LLC.

 

Mr. Tavakoli has extensive experience acquiring REO and non-performing loans directly from Financial institutions including banks and special servicers.

 

Mr. Tavakoli acquired Hamburger Hamlet, a national restaurant chain from a public company through a 363 process in Chapter 11 Bankruptcy as a "Stocking Horse" in 2004. As CEO, Mr. Tavakoli repositioned the 1,300 employee operating company over a five year period. In 2009, he sold the company while keeping a residual interest.

 

Andrew Tavakoli earned a MSBA in finance from USC in 1986, a MBA in marketing from CSULB in 1983, and a BSEE degree in computer systems from University of Pittsburgh in 1981.

BERTO GONZALEZ

Berto Gonzalez is CEO of Milton Properties, a highly successful residential renovation company  in the Los Angeles market. He leads his firm in sourcing an dmanaging firms distressed asset acquisitions, including short sale and small portfolio  acquisitions. Mr. Gonzalez is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers. He earned his MBA from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania, and received his undergraduate degree in Finance and Real Estate from California State University at Long Beach.

 

Earlier in his career, Mr. Gonzalez was Vice President responsible for acquisitions/dispositions, leasing, expense management, and business plan development for institutional quality, one million square foot shopping centers at Shopco Advisory Group.

 

Mr. Gonzalez began his real estate investment career at ING/Clarion in New York City, where he provided asset management services for assets owned by large public pension fund clients.
